apple teacher- pages
This iBook from Apple Teacher proved to be extremely useful for someone like me who has never used the pages app. I learned all about what Pages is, what it can do, and how I could see myself using it.
The app seems to be pretty user-friendly especially if you are familiar with Microsoft Word. Brochures and newsletters can be easily created and perfected by choosing a fitting template similar to how Word operates. Features are easy to access on the toolbar such as text formatting and sizing. Images can be quickly inserted into the document. I think the first advantage to Pages over Word that I noticed was the ease of resizing images. The document doesn’t have to change completely when a picture is made larger or smaller. You can simply drag the image by its blue selection handles to increase or decrease its size.
Another neat aspect of Pages is the comment feature to make notes to yourself or for use by those reviewing the document. If collaboration or peer revision is involved in the creation process of your page, changes made by anyone can be quickly noticed with the change tracker.
I feel that I should begin using pages for projects I would usually use Microsoft word or another application for. Educationally, Pages would be perfect to demonstrate math story problems with images and text. I would also like to try it to create posters for anything. I’m excited to test it out more after reading the iBook and seeing how all the features can be used to create a polished final project.
